I want to play "gin" not "knock"

I live gin rummy, but I grew up playing without any idea of the "knock" play. For others who might not know, knocking is when you go out with 10 points of less of deadwood rather than with a hand of gin. In this game the phone goes out sometimes in the second or third play by knocking. I have had to completely change my playing style to quickly get rid of good gin possibility hands in order to avoid losing to an early knock. If I wanted to play "knock" I would have searched for such a game. Its very frustrating when one is looking for a good game of gin rummy.
